avMpNp DB contains 89 antiviral compounds from 47 medicinal plants. These plants originated from different parts of the world, of which 15 (31.9%) are native to Brazil. The plant species come from 30 families, com Lamiaceae (n=6, 20%), Myrtaceae (n=4, 13.3%), Asteraceae (n=3, 10%) e Fabaceae (n=3, 10%) em destaque.
The bioactive compounds of avMpNp DB are in majority polyphenols belonging to the flavonoid (n=24, 26.97%) and terpene (n=24, 26.97%) classes. The remaining compounds are distributed in other classes such as alkaloids, triterpene saponins, and tannins.
The antiviral activities of medicinal plants and their bioactive compounds present data from different viruses, including COVID-19, SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome), MERS (Middle East Respiratory Syndrome), Zika, Chikungunya, Dengue, Rotaviruses, Influenza, Herpes, and others.
